The Northern Ireland Regional Secretary of the Rover 75 & MG ZT club organised a barbecue at his home for the club members.
We left home at 6.00pm in our Rover 75, along with a mate and had an uneventful drive arriving at the venue at 6.40pm. Due to a number of reason there were only a few members who could attend. When we arrived there was a Trophy Blue MG ZT and a dark blue Rover 75 tourer "Little Smokie" already there.
We parked up and made our way round the back of the house. The food was already on the barbecue cooking away. I'll not complain too much about the Club Secretary's lack of culinary skills, and the less said about the chicken wings the better. There was enough food and drink supplied to feed an army. We all eat much more that we should of, as is always the case at barbecues.
Thankfully, after a day of torrential rain, it stayed dry all evening and the sun even tried to shine, this enabled us to sit outdoors and chat and have a bit of craic. Just after 8.00pm another club member arrived in his MG 1100. You should have seen the men drool over it and inspect it. I'd say they checked out every square inch of it and that's not exaggerating.
Someone made a joke about how many large men could fit into it. Without further to do they decided to find out. One jumped into the front seat and three of them crammed themselves into the back seat with not a millimetre to space, it was so crammed that the owner and to shut the door. You should off seen that poor car sink under the immense weight.
Look at these 2 pictures, and notice how close the wheel arch is to the tyres.
Then the driver decide to take them for a spin. The poor car moved off with it's mudflaps trailing on the ground. How it coped with the weight is beyond me.

By this stage the temperature had dropped and I was feeling the chill despite have multiple layers on including 2 heavy coats, so we moved indoor to a cosy fire. Where we were promptly served with tea, coffee and soft drinks and a selections of doughnuts yummm.
The craic was great and before we knew it it was midnight and time for us to get on the road and head for home.
A brillant nights craic and great to catch up with all the guys and girls again.
