The Ultimate Car, a charity show, is now in its sixth year.
Held annually at the end of March, it is one of the first shows of the season and is eagerly anticipated by everyone after the long winter months.

A club stand was booked by The Rover 75 & MG ZT Club, this year it was decided that the stand should be open to any British built car and not restricted just Rover 75's and MG ZT's.
It was arranged that we would meet at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Larne at 10.15am. My husband and I left home at 9.00am leaving us plenty of time for a leisurely drive to Larne. However, about 4 miles from home the main road was closed, and we had to follow diversions which added about 20 miles to our journey. We made it safely to Larne, some 10 minutes late. Despite the clocks having gone forward an hour, 12 members were already assembled, we were the last to arrive! We took a bit of ribbing for being late.

Entrance fees were collected and we set of in convoy through Larne to FG Wilsons (the venue for the show). We parked up and the day began in the usual fashion with the members washing and polishing their cars.
As the day wore on 3 more members arrived, 2 of whom travelled from Co Monaghan. This brought the total number of cars on our stand up to 16. The cars on display included 3 Rover 25’s, 1 MG ZS, 4 MG ZT, 4 75’s, 2 75 Tourers, 1 MG ZR, and a Jaguar XK8
CARS THAT WERE ON OUR CLUB STAND
After cars were cleaned a polished we had a bite of lunch and spent the rest of the day viewing the other cars on display and watching the auto-testing, entwined with the usual craic and banter.
AUTO TESTING
THIS "DANCING" CAR DREW A LOT OF ATTENTION
OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE ON DISPLAY THAT CAUGHT MY EYE
This really is a show with something for every member of the family including live music, face painting, tombola, ice cream van, food stands and trade stands.
For the second year in a row the weather was great, the sun shone all day. A great show with plenty to see and do and a great days craic. It was great catching up with the regulars and meeting the new members who attended. We left around 5.30pm and received a goodie bag as we departed.
The high temperatures brought out record numbers of exhibitors and spectators. I have heard that £8,000 was raised, a credit to all those who participated.
