DRIVE IT DAY, SPRUCEFIELD, LISBURN - 17TH APRIL 2011

Drive it Day, hosted by Banbridge Old Vehicle Club, was held on Sunday 17th April 2011 in Sprucefield, Lisburn.  A charity event open to all makes and models of classic cars.

We arrived at 11.00am, parked to one side to wait for other club members to arrive.  From here we had a first class view of the vehicles arriving.

Once we entered the show area and park up, it was time to walk around and view the cars.  There were over 200 cars on display including 3 from the Classic Rover Club (NI).

We left around 4.30 after having a great day out on a dry but dull spring day.

SD1 IS OUT OF WINTER STORAGE - APRIL 2011

The SD1 is out of winter storage and back home.

A few jobs need to be done, the timing belt needs changed and a sticking calibre needs freed up or replaced before the show season begins.

Then it will be time for it to be wash, waxed, polished and cleaned inside so that it's ready for it's first outing on Sunday 17th April (Drive It Day, Sprucefield, Lisburn).

THE ULTIMATE CAR SHOW, LARNE - 27th MARCH 2011

The Ultimate Car Show, was held in FG Wilsons, Larne on Sunday 27th March 2011

The Ultimate Car show is a charity event open to all makes and models of cars and trade stands.  Although this is the third year that The Ultimate Car Show has been held in Larne, this is the first time that the The Rover 75 and ZT Club has attended.

A Club stand was booked and 14 members were due to attend.  On the day 11 members turned up (the other 3 were unable to attend for various last minute problems).  One of our members travelled for 4 hours from Co Clare to be with us.  We arrived at 10.30 am, 214 other cars were already in situ and the majority of owners were beavering away cleaning and polishing up their already spotless babies.

There was something to interest everyone including live music, driving demenstrations/displays, face painting, tombola, ice cream van, candy floss machine and food stands.

I have to say that the most memorable car for me was the Rover 100 that had been customised.  The passenger seat hand been removed.  The carpet had been removed and replace with what I can only describe as 1970's floral design.  The door card were decorated with an idilic Caribbean Island scene.  The wheels were painted bright pink.  Most unusual, but definately memorable.  Unfortunately I didn't get a decent picture of it.

The weather was great, the sun shone most of the day (a few people managed to get sun burnt).  This was another great day out with the club, and a great days craic.

We left around 4.30 and received a gift bag contain, microfibre cloths, airfresherns etc on our departure.

The 4 pictures below are of the grills of 4 of the cars on our stand.

The 10 pictures below are of our members cars.

And last but not least - The Cleanest car on our stand

One more picture just to prove that other cars were in attendance

This years event raised £8,000, for 2 local charities, beating last years total by £1,000.
